About Me
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Bangor, Maine. I graduated from The University of Akron in Counseling Psychology with a PhD and a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology. My predoctoral internship was completed at the University of Maine Counseling Center, in Orono, Maine. I practiced for approximately five years at Northeast Occupational Exchange (N.O.E.), a community mental health center in Bangor, ME. While at N.O.E., I specialized in the treatment of anxiety and facilitated an anxiety management group. While at N.O.E., I also served as the Mental Health Liaison to the Juvenile Drug Court and had experience with adolescents who presented with both substance abuse abuse and behavioral problems. Since beginning private practice, I have focused on individual and couple’s therapy. I work with individuals from adolescence through the life span.
I am a generalist and treat many psychological issues – mood disorders, trauma-related symptoms, anxiety, grief and loss, stress-management, and psychological symptoms associated with chronic pain. Therapeutic work often takes a “coaching” perspective in helping people develop habits and change behaviors that produce desired outcomes in their life, including an increased sense of empowerment. Additionally, I have also taught and presented on sexual identity and sexual attraction and have experience treating same-sex and polyamorous couples.
